![]() ![]() ![]() I read around that a couple of people had issues with the materials quality or with hum. The latency is so significant that not only is annoying while playing, but the recorded signal is also out of sync with the drums/metronome. Second point is that the latency is huge, I never had such a latency with other interfaces (thr, line6 pod etc.). I am disappointed, to say the least, as I reported the issue to PG, they acknowledged it and while they claimed that it will be fixed in a later update, it is already been 6 months and they didn't do anything about it. You can find that the problem is well known now, many of the people refer to it as wobbling sound effect, and there are open threads in Reddit and also in the official PG forum. First of all the recorded signal is "faulty", as the interface changes the pitch of the notes. What I definitely didn't like was the fact that the amp is unusable as an audio interface. The cleans and the crunches were also quite good, but again with the bass scooped and by raising the amp from the floor. ![]() With a tube screamer and some tweaking some of the amp simulations can provide a very good, tight and aggressive metal sound. What helped a lot to produce a good metal/high gain tight sound was to always use a tube screamer. Despite I placed the amp on a stand, off the floor, I ended up always turning the bass almost all the way down and cranking up the treble and the mids to produce a more clear and tight sound. The amp in general is too bass-y and out of the box I find it muffled and boxy. What I also liked is that they provide a big library of custom made sounds, that you can easily and quickly try and download to the app/amp.Īlthough it offers a huge amount of amps and pedals, not all of them are of great quality. It also features a couple of new technologies, like the Smart Jam and the Auto Cords, which although are good to have, I wasn't impressed by the results and ended up not using them at all (this evaluation is only from the metal perspective, maybe for other types of music the performance is better). It has a lot of amps and a huge amount of pedals. I think it is great for musicians that like to try different options and play around to make their sounds. It provides a good app and a vast amount of options and sounds. I can say that it is a fairly good amp, especially for its price, but with its flaws. I probably was lucky enough to not wait for too long, just 2-3 weeks to be delivered. Both of them are good cheaper options and convenient enough to carry them around with batteries.īut that was all about the Katana mini and I still have it in a corner, that's how much I liked it :P. While the Blackstar has more clarity and delivers better clean sounds, the gain wasn't enough and I think it doesn't compare to the Katana Mini. When I bought it I was torn between that and the Blackstar Fl圓. It is a very compact and portable amp that can impressively deliver a good sound, but mainly for high gain tones.įor what it is I was surprised by the clarity and the gain this amp provides. Did I find something that could cover most of the above and could deliver the most important thing, a good sound? Spoiler alert: Yes!ĭisclaimer: The rest of the text is just my opinion with only goal to save some time from a lot of people that have the same questions as I did, and they don't have the opportunity to try the amps in person.Ī great amp for what it is and its price.
